Program description
The Ras Al Khaimah Art program invites international artists to spend 6 months in the United Arab Emirates. This is a great opportunity to create new works inspired by the local context and to interact closely with the local community.
Main Information
Eligibility
Professional artists and directors/filmmakers aged 21 and over are invited to participate. Authors working in the following areas are accepted:
- Drawing/Graphics
- Film
- Jewelry
- Mixed Media
- Painting
- Photography
- Sculpture
- Textiles
Financing
The maximum grant amount is 61,000 AED (UAE Dirhams). These funds fully cover basic expenses, including:
- International flight
- Visa fees
- Accommodation
- Living stipend
- Car rental and domestic travel
- Purchase of art materials
- Rental of specific equipment
- Contractor services for creating works
- Translator services
Supported Activities
Organizers expect residents to do the following during the program:
- Create new works according to the initial concept.
- Work in an "open studio" format—be ready to welcome visitors who want to observe the process and ask questions.
- Conduct one practical workshop per month (6 workshops in total).
- Record one podcast interview, explaining their creative work and interests in simple terms.
- Write a blog post (500–800 words) about their residency experience.
- Present a solo exhibition at the annual Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival (and also participate in a joint public art installation).
- Donate one of the works created during the residency to the Foundation.
