Eligibility

Within the grant program, the categories of eligible applicants are clearly defined:

  • non-governmental organizations;
  • not-for-profit organizations;
  • civic associations;
  • local and municipal authorities;
  • schools and healthcare institutions.

All applicants must be registered in Ukraine.

The applicant cannot be:

  • a legal entity subject to an international sanction under Act No. 289/2016 Coll. of Slovak Republic on the Implementation of International Sanctions and on the Amendment to Act No. 566/2001 Coll. of Slovak Republic on Securities and Investment Services and the Amendment and Supplementation of Certain Acts;
  • a legal entity against which the Slovak Republic has a financial claim.

Financing

Within the framework of the grant program, non-repayable financial support is provided:

  • the maximum amount of funding is 10,000 EUR per project;
  • the total budget allocated for the call is 40,000 EUR, which limits the number of selected projects.

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic will pay both payments by bank transfer to the foreign currency account of the beneficiary.

Supported Activities

Within the grant program, activities are supported that focus on small-scale development projects at the local level under the Official Development Assistance of the Slovak Republic.

The priority areas of support include:

  • infrastructure and sustainable use of natural resources — improving water, waste management, energy, and environmental sustainability;
  • food safety and agriculture — strengthening agricultural systems and productivity;
  • support for the creation of a market environment — promoting SMEs, innovation, and job creation;
  • health — improving access to healthcare and prevention;
  • quality education — enhancing education systems and vocational skills;
  • good governance and civil society building — strengthening institutions and citizen participation.

At the same time, all projects must integrate cross-cutting themes such as environment and climate change and gender equality.

Roadmap

The roadmap of the grant program outlines the key timelines and implementation stages:

  • the project implementation period is from 6 to 12 months;
  • the implementation starts immediately after signing the Small Grant Agreement;
  • the deadline for submission of project proposals is 15 June 2026.

The call was published on 31.03.2026, with the latest update dated 08.04.2026.

How to Apply

The application process for participation in the grant program follows a defined procedure with specific deadlines and requirements:

  • the submission deadline is 15 June 2026 (Monday);
  • applications must be submitted both electronically (to emb.kiev@mzv.sk) and in hard copy to the Embassy of the Slovak Republic: Yaroslaviv Val St, 34, Kyiv, 01901;
  • hard-copy applications must be completed, signed, and stamped, and include supporting documents (registration documents of the applicant organization and CVs of key representatives in English);
  • the final submission time is 17:00 Kyiv time on the deadline date.

Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Evaluation Criteria

Within the project evaluation process, particular attention is given to the integration of cross-cutting themes, which must be reflected in all initiatives:

  • environment and climate change — supporting climate action, biodiversity protection, and sustainable use of natural resources;
  • gender equality — promoting equal rights, opportunities, and protection for women and girls.

Applications that negatively affect these areas (for example, reinforcing gender inequality or worsening environmental conditions) will not be approved.

Required Documents

  • The data subject’s consent to the processing of personal data.
  • The organization’s registration documents.
  • CVs of key personnel (in English).

Reporting and Compliance

Within the grant program, clear requirements are established for financial reporting and payment procedures:

  • the grant is disbursed in two instalments: 90% is paid after signing the grant agreement;
  • the remaining 10% is paid after project completion and submission of the required reports with supporting documents.

The final beneficiary submits a financial report covering all budget lines (100% of the project value), which includes:

  • a detailed description of each expense according to the approved budget;
  • invoices and original receipts for works, goods, and services;
  • a statement from a bank or exchange office indicating the exchange rate used when converting the grant funds into local currency.

Legal Terms

Within the grant program, several legal conditions regulate project implementation and documentation requirements:

  • microgrants represent a flexible development tool under the Official Development Assistance of the Slovak Republic and are implemented through a network of embassies;
  • in case of unforeseen changes during project implementation, the beneficiary must inform the Embassy in writing and request approval for changes;
  • any changes to the project budget, scope, or outcomes require prior approval and will not be accepted otherwise;
  • all supporting documents must be in English, or, if submitted in Ukrainian, must be accompanied by an English translation (an unofficial translation is acceptable).
