Program description

Gender Equality Partnerships 2026 is a grant opportunity under the Going Global Partnerships program, aimed at developing partnerships between higher education institutions in the United Kingdom and Ukraine in the field of gender equality.

The program supports joint projects that help universities implement sustainable institutional changes, foster a more inclusive educational environment, and strengthen the role of women in higher education.

Eligibility

In Ukraine, the Lead Institution must be a higher education institution or a nonprofit research institution/organization. A British Lead Partner is required. Associate Partners may include NGOs, foundations, CSOs, social enterprises, businesses, government organizations, TVET institutions, and others.

Financing

Eligible expenses:

– Economy travel and local travel
– Accommodation and subsistence
– Visas, insurance and essential international travel costs
– Production of materials
– External consultancy – up to 20%
– Essential specialist equipment, consumables and software
– Training, meetings, seminars, workshops and public engagement events
– Translation and interpretation
– Publications and webpages
– Online platforms
– Conference participation to present project results
– Monitoring and evaluation
– Staff time directly allocated to the project
– Banking and exchange-rate costs.

Ineligible expenses:

– Promotion solely for overseas student recruitment
– Institutional overheads and indirect costs
– Master's/PhD scholarships and tuition
– Standard office IT equipment
– Office furniture and standard office equipment
– Mobile phones and bills
– Patent, copyright, licensing and other IP costs
– Construction, purchase or rental of physical infrastructure
– Gifts, alcohol and excessive entertainment
– Profit or fees charged to the grant
– Gift cards, cryptocurrencies and other non-monetary assets

Supported Activities

For Ukraine only 2 themes are eligible:

1) addressing underrepresentation of women in higher education leadership;

2) creating safe higher education spaces.

Roadmap

21 Sep 2026 – application deadline;
by end Nov 2026 – results; contracts within 2 weeks;
1 Jan 2027 – start;
15 Sep 2027 – progress report;
31 May 2028 – project end;
30 Jun 2028 – final report

How to Apply

Fill out the online application and upload the budget, letters of support, and team bios.

Evaluation Criteria

Project quality and relevance – 40%; Methodology and design – 30%; remaining assessment covers partnership, capacity and sustainability/impact.

Reporting and Compliance

Financial and substantive reporting is mandatory. Inception, progress, and final reports are required. Expenses must be supported by documentation/receipts for monitoring and audit purposes.

Legal Terms

Project must comply with ethics, Safeguarding Policy, EDI, gender equality and data protection requirements.
