Program description
The charity organization “Light of Hope” is announcing a competition for individuals who already own a business or have a business idea and are seeking resources to bring it to life. The program provides non-repayable financial support and is aimed at developing and scaling up microbusinesses.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the charitable organization “Light of Hope” in partnership with JERU (Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine, a joint initiative of the international non-governmental organizations Welthungerhilfe and Concern Worldwide).
Main Information
Eligibility
The opportunity to participate in the grant programme applies to residents of specific communities in Poltava region, namely:
- Poltava;
- Kremenchuk;
- Myrhorod;
- Lubny communities.
Priority is given to businesses belonging to vulnerable population groups, including:
- war veterans;
- internally displaced persons;
- persons with disabilities;
- families of veterans and fallen soldiers;
- individuals with a low income level;
- people without stable employment;
- single parents;
- large families;
- households with pregnant or breastfeeding women;
- individuals aged 45+;
- people affected by war;
- other vulnerable groups.
Financing
The programme provides non-repayable financial support for business development.
Grant amount:

fixed amount — UAH 59,000
Conditions for use of funds:
- funding must be used for purchasing equipment for intended purposes only
- costs for materials and raw inputs must not exceed 20% of the grant
- purchases must follow the initial application (changes require approval)
- grant funds must be fully utilized
- co-financing with personal funds is allowed
Mandatory requirements:
- timely submission of reports with supporting documents
- participation in a business support training

Key supported activities and conditions for fund usage include:
- Purchase of equipment strictly for its intended purpose;
- Costs for materials and raw inputs — up to 20% of the total grant amount;
- Expenses must align with the initial application; any changes require organiser approval;
- Grant funds must be fully utilized;
- Co-financing with the participant’s own funds is allowed;
- Timely reporting with proof of proper fund use is required;
- Participation in business support activities (trainings) is expected.

The selection within the grant programme is conducted based on the evaluation of submitted applications.
