Program description
DanChurchAid & Norwegian Church Aid in Ukraine opens applications for business grants to support business development. Grants are provided for recovery and development of entrepreneurial activities and should contribute to restoring a stable source of income.
Main Information
Eligibility
Eligibility for participation in the grant programme is open to active micro and small businesses that meet the following criteria:
- Official registration — applicants must be registered as sole proprietors, LLCs, farms, etc.;
- Geographic requirement — operations must be located more than 20 km away from the frontline;
- No recent grant support — applicants must not have received funding from other NGOs within the last 6 months;
- Financial and reputational compliance — no debts, and no criminal or corruption-related risks.
Financing
Within the grant programme, funding amounts depend on the scale of business operations and employment commitments:
- up to USD 5,000 — for businesses operating independently or with employees but not planning to create new jobs;
- up to USD 7,500 — for businesses operating independently that commit to hiring at least one person;
- up to USD 10,000 — for businesses that already employ one or more people and also commit to hiring an additional employee.
The grant is disbursed in UAH equivalent.
Supported Activities
The grant programme defines a set of supported activities aimed at business recovery and development:
- Purchase of equipment, tools, and materials necessary for operations;
- Staff training and capacity building (up to 10% of the grant amount);
- Procurement of raw materials (up to 10%);
- Marketing and advertising (up to 10%);
- Partial renovation of premises;
- Salaries for newly hired employees (up to 5 months, not exceeding 30% of the grant).
At the same time, certain costs are not eligible for funding:
- purchase of land, real estate, or vehicles;
- hazardous materials (e.g. chemicals, fuel);
- rent and capital repairs;
- salaries of existing staff and related taxes;
- military or surveillance equipment;
- environmentally harmful activities;
- debt repayment.
Grant funds must be used exclusively for business recovery and development, contributing to sustainable income generation.

Evaluation Criteria
Within the evaluation process, priority is given to specific categories of applicants, which may influence selection outcomes:
- Businesses led by veterans and their family members;
- Women-led businesses;
- Businesses led by internally displaced persons (IDPs);
- Businesses led by persons with disabilities;
- Relocated businesses and those affected by war-related damage.
At the same time, the call remains open to all applicants, but belonging to these categories may provide an additional advantage during evaluation.
