Briefly
Program description
The program is organized by the Alstom Foundation to improve living standards in communities where Alstom is present.
It focuses on four key areas: economic and social development (job creation, skills training for vulnerable groups), environmental protection (biodiversity conservation, environmental education), access to mobility (facilitating movement of people and goods), and access to energy and water.
All projects must align with the Alstom Foundation's Ethics Charter. Projects are implemented by competent partner organizations (NGOs) with the support of a "promoter" — an Alstom employee.
Main Information
Eligibility
Participation requirements of the grant programme define the project submission process and the role of the Alstom representative.
- All projects must be submitted by an NGO together with an Alstom employee acting as the Project Promoter.
- The Alstom employee must be based in the country where the project is implemented.
- The Project Promoter works with the NGO to prepare the project application and validates it prior to submission.
- If the project is selected, the Promoter supports monitoring of implementation, including site visits and involvement in project activities.
- Each Alstom employee is allowed to support only one project submission per year.
- If an NGO does not have an Alstom contact, the Secretariat of the Alstom Foundation may assist in identifying a potential Promoter.
- The deadline for submitting requests to identify an Alstom Promoter is March 13, 2026; no requests will be considered after this date.
- The Secretariat does not guarantee the identification of a Promoter for every submission, as Promoters are volunteers and engage only if the project concept interests them.
Financing
Funds are allocated to projects with measurable outcomes and impact on communities, that are realistic and feasible within the budget. Expenses must align with project objectives and the Alstom Foundation's Ethics Charter.
Supported Activities
Supported activities under the Alstom Foundation grant programme are structured around four key areas.
1. Economic and social development
- The programme supports initiatives aimed at creating sustainable industries and jobs, as well as training and skills development.
- Particular focus is placed on: skills development and employability for disadvantaged youth and women; support for street children, orphans, and foster children.
2. Environmental protection
- Projects are supported that enhance environmental awareness, protect natural habitats and biodiversity.
- Initiatives strengthening resilience to natural disasters are also encouraged.
3. Access to mobility
- The Foundation promotes community economic development by facilitating the movement of people and goods.
- Support is directed toward solutions enabling remote and disadvantaged communities to access markets, education, healthcare, and other essential services.
4. Access to energy and water
- The programme supports initiatives expanding access to electricity and safe drinking water.
- Particular attention is given to helping remote communities improve living standards through access to these fundamental services.
