Program description
The Fix Foundation in partnership with the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) provides technical assistance to Ukrainian media within the “Voices of Ukraine” program, which is part of the Hannah-Arendt Initiative.
The program aims to provide material support to Ukrainian media operating in Ukraine.
Support is limited to equipment purchases to ensure journalists can continue their work under dangerous conditions and power disruptions.

Eligibility
Eligible applicants include:
- Ukrainian media operating in Ukraine;
- print media;
- online media;
- radio;
- television;
- media startups.
Applicants must comply with Ukrainian media legislation.
Financing
Amount of funding
- The approximate support amount is about €1600 per journalist (around UAH 81,400).
- The equivalent amount in Ukrainian hryvnia will be calculated according to the current exchange rate.
Specific funding considerations

In some cases, expensive equipment may be shared by several journalists, particularly when it is intended for collective use.
Maximum grant amount
- The total grant per media organisation will not exceed €10,000 (approximately UAH 508,700).
- The final amount will also be converted into hryvnia based on the current exchange rate.
Supported Activities
The programme focuses on strengthening the capacity of independent media to operate effectively under challenging conditions and maintain continuity of their work.
Ensuring stable operations for media organisations
- A key priority is ensuring stable energy supply and communication for media outlets.
- Support may include resources necessary to maintain operations during power outages, such as:

power banks;

batteries;
-
communication tools (routers, hotspots, satellite communication, Starlink, etc.).

These measures aim to ensure uninterrupted newsroom operations even during electricity disruptions.
Support for frontline media
- The programme places particular emphasis on media operating in frontline regions.
- These outlets may receive support in the form of essential equipment and technical tools enabling them to perform journalistic work under difficult conditions.
Support for hyperlocal media
- Special attention is given to hyperlocal media outlets working closely with local communities and covering issues important to specific regions.
- Supported initiatives may include projects that:

develop new content formats, such as video reports or interactive materials;

create innovative media products.

Support for small and medium national media

The programme also targets independent national media, including:

government accountability;

Particular attention is given to media organisations that do not have stable access to international grant programmes or commercial funding sources.
