Program description
The Oral Health International Foundation’s grant program supports service projects aimed at expanding access to dental care for populations in need.
The Foundation receives a significant number of applications each year, and the available budget may vary. Even approved applications may not receive full funding or may not receive funding in a given year due to limited resources.
All grants are intended for projects to be implemented in 2027 and cannot be used to fund activities from previous years.
Main Information
Eligibility
Main requirements:
- The applicant organization must be a registered 501(c)(3).
- An IRS Letter of Determination must be submitted with each application.
- Non-U.S. applicants must provide a tax-exempt certificate.
Reapplication rules:
- It is allowed to receive a grant for two consecutive years.
- After that, applicants must skip one year before applying again.
Financing
Funding may be provided for:
- Disposable dental supplies.
- Medical equipment and supplies — up to 25% of the grant request.
- Small and large instruments — up to 25%.
- Instrument rental — up to 25%.
- Lab fees — up to 25%.
Restrictions (not funded):
- University overhead, research, or essays.
- Salaries and professional fees (including dentists).
- Travel and related expenses (fuel, hotels, flights).
- Questionnaires and surveys.
- Patient/dental literature (websites, brochures, videos).
- Capital projects and insurance.
- Computers and IT support.
- Land or building purchases.
- Non-dental social services.
- Government-funded programs supported by taxes.
- Volunteer support (t-shirts, food, accommodation).
- Fundraising events (dinners, tickets, tables).
- Advertising and promotional activities.
- Contributions to general funds of other organizations.
Supported Activities
Within the grant program, supported activities focus on improving access to dental care and advancing oral health.
Supported activities:
- Innovative projects in oral health.
- Programs that increase access to dental care for underserved populations.
- Initiatives aimed at providing care to vulnerable groups.
Roadmap
- Application submission: from March 1 to June 1, 2026.
- Notification of results: by mid-November 2026.
- Funding start: not before January 1, 2027.
- Project implementation: within 2027.

Evaluation Criteria
Within the grant program, applications are evaluated based on the clarity and completeness of the submitted information.
Key criteria:
- Clear and concise project description.
- A detailed budget explaining how the funds will be used.
- Description of the project implementation approach.
- Identification of major project phases.
- Approximate timeline and project duration.
- Explanation of how the project will be evaluated.
General requirement: information should be presented in a concise and structured manner.
Required Documents
To participate in the grant program, the application must include a complete set of required documents, otherwise it will not be reviewed.

- Completed Application Form.
- Tax-exempt documentation: IRS Letter of Determination or non-U.S. equivalent.
- Itemized project budget — detailed breakdown of ALL expenses (not a single line item).
- Organization budget.
- Two current letters of endorsement.
- List of Board of Directors.
- Principal applicant’s Curriculum Vitae.

Updates / Announcements
Grant winners will be notified by mid-November 2026.
Reporting and Compliance
Once the project is completed, a full report must be submitted by December 31 of the year in which the project ends.
Legal Terms
All information in the application must be accurate. An incomplete application or the absence of required documents will result in its rejection.
