Briefly
Program description
The competition aims to develop methods and technologies for evaluating deep geothermal reservoirs at depths of 2,000–6,000 m, particularly where there is low natural permeability, insufficient geological data, and high drilling risks.
Projects should improve the accuracy of predicting reservoir properties and the feasibility of their subsequent geothermal exploitation.
Participants will receive non-repayable funding in the form of a lump sum to improve drilling success rates, reduce the risks of induced seismicity, and assess environmental and social impacts.
The goal of the competition is to unlock the potential of geothermal resources with low natural permeability and to support the transition to clean energy in Europe.
