Program description
The international humanitarian organization Mercy Corps, with support from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, has launched the Ukraine Agriculture Support Program. The aim of this program is to help restore agricultural activities and overcome the consequences of the war for affected local families and those displaced by the war, as well as for farmers and businesses closely connected to agriculture.
The program is implemented in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions (excluding areas where active hostilities continue, as well as areas with restricted access or high risks to life and business operations), in partnership with the following organizations:

NGO “East Ukrainian Agricultural Advisory Service” (Donetsk, Poltava, and Cherkasy regions);

Charitable Organization “PERSHI” Charitable Foundation – implemented by the same team previously working at NGO “Council of Women Farmers” (Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions);

Charitable Organization “LASKA” Charitable Foundation (Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kherson regions);

Charitable Organization “PIDTRYMKA AGRO” Charitable Foundation – implemented by the same team previously working at the Agricultural Cooperative “Zernovyi” (Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions).
Local residents and internally displaced persons (IDPs) who require support to restore agricultural activities lost or damaged due to the war are invited to participate in the program.
It is expected that with the assistance received, households or small farmers will be able to restore their agricultural activities, contributing to the stabilization or increase of household income.
The average amount of financial support is USD 3,000, provided in the Ukrainian hryvnia equivalent at the current exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). The amount of assistance may be higher or lower depending on the specific needs of each household.

How to Apply
To apply for participation in the program, you need to register on the official website of the Ukraine Agriculture Support Program at https://uasp.mercycorps.org/ and complete the online application form.
When filling out the application, you will need your personal documents (passport, tax identification number, IDP certificate, etc.) to enter accurate information, but none of these documents need to be submitted with the application.
The average application review period is 8 weeks. Depending on the number of applications received, this period may vary.
Evaluation Criteria
Arguments for the need for financial assistance and explanations of how farming activities have been affected by the war;
Understanding of how financial assistance will be used to implement the business idea;
Understanding of how to market farm products;
Experience in running a profitable farming business;
Social or financial vulnerability of the household;
etc.
