Briefly
Program description
The Pulitzer Center's Global Grants for Journalism are designed to support in-depth, substantive, and high-quality journalism that covers critically important topics that are often underreported or overlooked in the media. The program is a “catch-all” format, meaning there are no restrictions on subject matter or geography—journalists can propose projects from any country in the world and on any topic, provided that the reporting is socially significant, thoroughly researched, and has strong potential for impact.
The Pulitzer Center reviews applications on an ongoing basis, with no deadline. The organization seeks to support reporting that reveals new, underreported aspects of global processes and promotes a deeper understanding of important social issues around the world. It is one of the most flexible and accessible grant programs for journalists, allowing them to pursue ambitious reporting projects regardless of subject matter or location.
Main Information
Eligibility
The grant is open to reporters, photographers, radio/audio journalists, television/video journalists, and documentary filmmakers. The organizer aims to support journalists of diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
Applications are welcome from both freelancers and staff journalists of any nationality, as well as teams or newsroom groups (provided that all required information about participants is submitted). Projects involving work in conflict zones or other high-risk environments require a confirmed assignment from an editorial entity that assumes responsibility for the journalist’s safety, as well as strict adherence to ACOS Alliance principles.
